[After a long trek through the snowy field, a row of fancy heat lamps and a stone gate finally come into view. Through it, the town of Lutie is visible, and looking quite welcoming with its Christmas greetings everywhere. Compared to the frozen tundra, you'll want to hurry inside - just try not to let the wall hit you on the way in! And once the gate is passed, the first thing you'll see is a massive Christmas Tree.... ]

[Asakura's "you're an idiot" look couldn't be any clearer.]

Why? What possible reason would anyone have to get a bunch of dead people anything?

...Because we are dead? I think a lot of us could use a pick-me-up sometimes.

[After careful consideration, Asakura picks up a present, scrutinizes it for a moment, and then decides to drop-kick it. Clearly he is just full of the holiday spirit.]

Hey! Stop that! That's a gift for someone! You could have broken it!

[Ryoji hurries after the present, picking it up and returning it back under the tree, handling it carefully.]

That's the idea.

[Asakura just seems amused at Ryoji's distress at the package-kicking, so he'll pick up another one and try the same thing because he's a jerk that way.]

Why would you want to break them? They're something special for people!

[Hurries over to Asakura, swiping the gift away and just glaring.]

Because it's fun.

[Asakura seems totally unaffected by the glare, if not a little amused.]

It's not fun. It's rude. Wouldn't you prefer to get your own gifts?

I don't care about gifts. If there's something I want, I just take it.

... I-I think that's very mean.

[Wow. Someone here in the Game that Ryoji doesn't like.]

That's the idea. It's fun. All that warm and fuzzy stuff vexes me.

[Unlikability is one of Asakura's special skills, really...]

Why does it do that? I like being nice to people. That's what's fun to me.

And even if you don't like being nice, there's ways to have fun without hurting other people.

[He just stares at Ryoji for a moment and then bursts out laughing. Having fun without hurting anyone just doesn't compute.]

Ahhh, you're just as bad as Kido...being nice is just a vexing waste of time.

Who's Kido? Being nice is just a normal thing to do. Not hurting people for the sake of hurting them. No one even did anything to you.

He's an idiot from back home. Tried to stop a small war...but it was a fun one.

[Asakura rolls his eyes.]

What does it matter whether or not they've done anything to me? If I'm feeling vexed, I have to get that out somehow.

Tried to stop? As fun as it was, I'm sure it needed to end. Did he succeed?

You could invest in a punching bag.

[Ryoji is this close to going Thanatos and teaching this punk a lesson. How do you feel about getting your vexes out with a fight with Death?]

He hadn't the last I saw of him.

Punching bags don't hit back. They're dull.

[There don't seem to be any reflective surfaces he could use for his powers in this area. As it is now, he'd be forced to flee after getting his butt handed to him, because he'd probably try to fight anyway.

...really, he deserves it.]

Well, then I hope he does eventually.

...So you want someone to hit back, do you?

[Yes, he does deserve it. Ryoji is slowly realizing that.]

[He's thinking he could easily beat up Ryoji without having to use his powers, too bad for him. Judging by that nasty grin he's got, he's quite willing to get into a fight.]

Those sorts of fights are always the most interesting...

[Ryoji smiles, a little mocking and harsh.]

Yes, it'll be interesting... but I'm sad to say it will be very painful for you.

[A moment later, Ryoji has disappeared and this monstrosity is in his place.]

[For a moment, Asakura actually seems excited at the sight of the terrible monster, because monsters usually mean cool fights. He's got his Advent Deck out, and...oh. There doesn't seem to be anywhere around where he can actually use the thing.

Awkward.

He's taking a couple of steps backward now, searching the area for something he can use to summon one of his monsters or to transform, but there's nothing. Running away would be a sensible option, but no, he's going to try to go in for a punch because he's a violent idiot like that.]

[Thanatos just stares, doesn't even try to dodge the punch as he watches Asakura run forward. He just watches, and at the last possible second...

He reaches out, grabs Asakura's fist in a clawed hand, and just squeezes. As hard as he can, which is pretty hard. He may even break a few bones.]

[vexed_snake]

[Asakura is not sure yet if he's got any broken bones, but the important thing is that his hand hurts. He hisses in pain and reflexively tries to pull his hand away. To emphasize his point, one of his legs shoots out in an attempt to sweep Thanatos's legs out from under him...like that'll work.]

[notsogrimreaper]

[Thanatos keeps his grip tight on Asakura's hand, even as the other attempts to trip him... you should have looked down first, Asakura. Thanatos has those wings, you know, so he's really just hovering in midair. Like the other Reaper is now, as Thanatos lifts him up by the arm and flings him against a wall.]

[When Asakura gets worked up in a fight, he is sadly not the greatest strategist ever, and old combat reflexes die hard.

Getting flung against the wall seems to have knocked a bit of the fight out of him, at least. He's struggling to pick himself back up again, but failing. He's also clutching at his injured hand.]
