WEEK 3 DAY 3: MISSION

Mission: Spread holiday cheer to the town!
Time Limit: Long
Noise Plane: Solo
Wall Instructions: Neku, the Flutters, and Kreutzer are explicitly assigned to wall duty, other reapers may man key walls around town as desired. Wall-clearing requirements must involve cheering the reaper in question up somehow.
Wall Rewards: Whirlygig Juggle
Reaped Rewards: Aqua Ghost
Mission Rewards: Adamantite
Bonus Reward: Love Me Tether

[It seems this week's GM is pretty easy-going, as this is another simple mission... it seems that spirits are still somewhat down amidst the RG, to say nothing of the Reapers. Obviously, one or more of them need to be happy to clear the mission. But which ones?

Strangely, all phones will get a second mail a few minutes after the first, though it's a little different than the mission mail... it actually seems to be in a somewhat stylized script, and reads quite differently.]

While those in this Game are carrying out your mission, there is one grinch who seems to be quite intent on befouling the name of this town and perhaps all of Christmas! Perhaps if you could find it in your heart to spread a little Christmas cheer to that snakey soul, Santa might have an extra present for you!

[This... doesn't seem to be part of the mission, but is it a prank? Santa does live in town...]

[[OOC note: Just like W2D7, you get a secondary mission! It's not gonna be easy, though, and the Reaper in question definitely did NOT agree to such a thing...]]

[Asakura at least manages to stop himself from attempting to deck Ryoji, because he's not interested in obtaining more healing potions should he bust up a hand again.]

[Ryoji does his best to look innocent, smirking a bit. His yellow gloves are still wet from snow.]

[Nope, not buying it.]

[He is twitching, he wants to hit Ryoji so badly...]

Maybe I did throw a snowball... I wish it would've washed your dirty face.

[Bring it, you'll just get another broken hand.]

[Oh, he's ticked off...and he knows better than to punch Ryoji. He knows. His pride can't handle another broken hand that way, but he wants to hurt someone so badly...

And that's when he starts beating his head against the nearest wall. Doesn't seem that he's too worried about potential head injuries.]

[Ryoji isn't too worried, either. He just laughs, a lot cruelly than he normally does.]

Be careful, you may lose more braincells then you can survive without. You already have the brains of a goldfish.

[What little self-control he had left and was exercising in that bit of self-abuse is gone now. He's swinging at Ryoji again.

Good thing he knows which vendors sell healing potions now.]

[Ryoji takes the blow, staggering back a bit, but he recovers quickly and transforms, the more monstrous side of things taking over as he roars.]

[Oh, great. It's the monster again. Asakura's still in a combat position, and he knows punching Thanatos is bad.

...and now he's spotted what looks like a busted broomstick sticking out of a conveniently-located nearby trashcan. He arms himself with it and rushes at Thanatos.]

[Rushing? Ahaha, like that's going to work against him. The Persona games are all about strategy, you know Thanatos easily spots the attack from a mile away, and dodges swiftly, getting behind Asakura, who now has his back exposed.

Have a blade cutting through your shirt, Asakura. It's a fair warning, and from the sickening panting noises coming from the monster's maw, it's going to be Asakura's only warning.]

[But strategy is HARD when you're this angry, ohnoes

And he is all too familiar with that blade cutting through his shirt, because you don't get as impressive a criminal record as his without having stabbed a few people yourself and having a couple try to stab you in return. He'll try to turn around so he can attack again with the broomstick, but he likely won't be fast enough.

Yes, it's a very good thing that he knows where to find healing potions now--and that he spent enough free time fighting Noise that he has the money for it.]

[Mun has never been good at those kinds of games either, so don't worry.

No, sorry, Asakura. Thanatos just barely moves his sword to cut through the broomstick, leaving nothing but a small segment of it in Asakura's hands.

Well, if Ryoji knew that, he'd find it strange. Asakura wanted to hurt people, so why in the world would he fight the Noise designed to fight for him?]

[He treats Noise in much the same way he treats Mirror Monsters. He uses what he has to in order to fight, and the rest? Fighting them is fun...and a cost-effective manner of keeping his Mirror Monsters fed.

Asakura stares down at that segment of broomstick in his hands and angrily hurls it at Thanatos's head.]

[Ryoji fights them too, but certainly not for fun, and not to feed...

The piece of wood bounces harmlessly off of Thanatos's head, but he howls anyways, reaching forward and grabbing Asakura by his shirt collar, shaking him around.]

[Asakura tries a bit of weak kicking but that's more an automatic reaction to getting swung around than anything. He's definitely trying to get loose.]

[Yeah, like Ryoji will let that happen. Keep kicking him and he'll probably just fling you at the wall-

Sorry, got bored. Thanatos roars as his arm whips to the side, sending Asakura flying.]

[He bounces off a wall and hits the ground.

Ow. He's trying to get up, although getting his wind back first is also high up on his list of priorities. Mostly, he's just looking beaten.]

[notsogrimreaper]

[Thanatos hovers over, and after a long moment, calms down enough to finally speak again.]

Are you done? Or would you like me to deal another blow?

Go ahead, hit me.

[He's still trying to get up and looking sort of pathetic. He's also got kind of a crazed gleam in his eye.]

See if I care.

[Thanatos puts his blade to Asakura's neck, propping his chin up.]

If I hit you, you would be Erased. Wouldn't that scare you?

[When he died, it was pretty much a suicide. Running into a crowd of cops with guns when all you had was a lead pipe and your rage? That's generally not a survivable encounter. He's trying to make eye contact with Ryoji now, even if it looks a little glassy, like Asakura just might need to pass out.]

Like you'd be able to live with yourself if you did it. You and Kido...you're the same sort of idiot.

[Thanatos stares at Asakura a long time, completely silent. He's angry. So angry right now. Asakura threatened to hurt people, and everyone in the Game right now is his friend. Hurting anyone would mean Ryoji would have to get revenge.

And he would deserve it. Erasing him would save everyone else, wouldn't it? Death is a natural part of life. It was time to Asakura to face his end for good.

Thanatos slowly moves his sword away from Asakura, swipes it back, and all of a sudden, it's cutting through the air, getting closer to making a perfect stab in Asakura's throat.]

[But in a split second, it seems to change its course, aiming for the wall just an inch away from Asakura's neck. It was traveling so fast, it actually gets embedded in it, and Thanatos tugs at it for a moment, sliding it out. His grip falters immediately after, dropping the blade.

And then he just howls.]

[Even if he's a little punch-drunk, Asakura tenses up at that first swing...and smirks once he realizes what happened.

He throws his head back and laughs as he unsteadily gets to his feet.]

I knew it. You couldn't--

[Abruptly, his eyes get wide, and he goes crashing to the ground again, panting in exhaustion. Someone's too wiped out to move.]

[notsogrimreaper]

... I will allow defeat to be your punishment for now. If you continue to hurt others for your own version of happiness, I will not miss next time.

[With that, Thanatos reverts back to Ryoji, who just turns and starts walking away. He's not going to bother helping him up. He's already wasted too much time on this.]
