Wall Instructions: No key walls; create walls at your own discretion. Seal off the school and dorm.

[This is the vaguest mystery ever. But, scan around and one thing will become apparent. Even if the second day was spent entirely clearing noise from the area, they're all back in full force, and they seem to be possessing more people than usual. These people have feelings of hopelessness, apathy and death. But just scanning them doesn't seem to give the answers why. If the mission can believed, this is not something the Reapers have done, but something to do with the world itself. Surely someone must know the truth....]

Right. ♪

[She idly watches him toss the cup. Rin is seriously willing to pact with anyone, but she hopes he doesn't need that to stay awake or something. She's going to be a high energy partner.]

Well, I'm Rin Kagamine. It's my second week playing the game. ♪

[invisiblefloatinghead]

[The coffee's more of a habit than anything else at this point. He's got to do something consistent to balance out the oddity of being dead. He's also quite used to dealing with high energy partners, even if he might not remember it.]

Pleasure to meet you, Ren. My name's Martin Stein. Professor Martin Stein.

[roadroller]

[Rin 'hmms' curiously at the title, then puts on a grin and sticks her hand out.]

Okay then, Professor! Let's do this. ♪

[invisiblefloatinghead]

[He returns that smile and goes in for the handshake.]

I'm sure we'll make a fine team.

[Good grief, this is triggering more of those nagging memory problems...best not to let himself get distracted when there's work to be done.]

[roadroller]

[And as soon as the handshake is initiated, a bright light envelops them for a couple of seconds, and the pact is complete!]

-Whoa! Shiny. ♪

[invisiblefloatinghead]

Can't say I was expecting it to be quite like that.

[Quick, painless, and no one had to explode in a nuclear reactor. Easier than forming partnerships back home. He gestures to the door.]

Shall we?

[roadroller]

Me either, really. ♪

[Rin nods, and flings the door open again. The noise don't seem so eager to eat her now that she's not alone. Still, she could use the exercise.]

We're going to take some of these out, okay? ♪

[Before he can argue, concentrated light from her Cornered Rat pin begins assailing one of the stray noise. Rin smirks, back in business.]

Perhaps a plan might be in order--

[Nope, too late. Such a familiar situation. All the Professor has is Crackle Pop Barrier, but at least it's got something of fire to it. He can work with that. He's staying put, but at least it looks like he's got a pretty good idea of where to send barriers made of fire to help Rin out.]

[roadroller]

Oh! They stopped! ♪

[Rin appreciates the barriers - since they protect her on all sides from Noise attacks, they give her a lot more time to focus the Cornered Rat, and when they run out she can ram into foes with her Velocity attack. They're separated by the duet noise planes though, so the only coverage Rin can give him in return is a cure drink from "Peace Full" if he gets hurt - and those are limited use. He may want to save some of those barriers for himself, at least for now.]

[The Professor's starting to figure this out. He tries using the barrier a little more offensively, attempting to take out Noise on his own plane with it.]

So what happens when they're defeated?

[roadroller]

[Rin finishes slamming into a Carcin noise before answering.]

They drop more pins! Usually the money kind! ♪

[invisiblefloatinghead]

[The Professor's carefully picking and choosing where he uses his pin now. With only one available to him, he's got to make it count.]

Can we use those to buy more of the ones we can fight with? I'd like to be able to use something other than just this, even if this one's my speed.

[roadroller]

Maybe! I don't really know, I've been saving mine to pay for my hotel room. ♪

[The noise are gradually diminishing as they fight. Rin's managing to keep her distance from them as she talks.]

There's a girl in the RG who can trade you better pins, but you need a "metal" pin - ♪

[and speaking of which, after they defeat the last noise, several pins drop and a couple metals are among them.]

[Oh, hey, those look interesting. The Professor picks them up.]

Like these?

[roadroller]

Ah, right right! That's the one. ♪

You mind if I take them, then? I suspect expanding my arsenal of pins would be beneficial to us both.

[roadroller]

Well, okay... since you only have one pin, it's fine for now. There's no guarantee you'll be able to use what you happen to find, after all. Make sure you get something good! ♪

[He gives her a nod and a bit of a smile.]
