Noise Plane: Solo
Wall Instructions: Key wall in front of Nishi-Shinjuku. Objective to be met is appropriate dress.
Wall Rewards: Poison Chains

Mission Rewards: 10,000 yen



["Tocho" is a nickname that refers to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, which has two panoramic observation decks. It shouldn't be hard to get there, but what awaits when you arrive?]

[Ichigo narrows his eyes. Grovyle was easily one of the best fighters he'd seen playing this game. Even without Rhyme, the lizard did an incredible job. Ichigo wasn't sure if his trap would lead to Erasure, but it would, at least, eat up a good bit of Grovyle's time. After all, he had to wait for the Noise to come to him. But pyschs weren't limited by the barrier, either. If Grovyle has some ranged pins, now would be the time to break them out.

The bats wheel at Grovyle, their wings like blades and their sharp fangs draining his energy. Two fall, but one remains, attaching itself to Grovyle's neck and biting down, hard. The wolves, after their first pass, circle around their abnormally stationary prey. Why wasn't the green one running? One wolf lets out a howl, while another goes in for a high-speed dash]

[Half-instinctively, Grovyle throws himself against one of the walls, expecting to crush the remaining bat as it bites down. Naturally, it doesn't work - Reaper walls only hold off players, not noise - but it gives him enough leverage to dodge the charging wolf out of sheer blind luck. Once he focuses, he whips himself around as quick as he can in an attempt to dislodge the bat, readying his sole functioning pin again once he can focus.

He's not going to get out of this easily, especially because the ranged pins he had wouldn't work for him like they would his partner. At the same time, he was scrappy, a skilled fighter, and... well, thankfully Ichigo showed enough mercy to only release low-level noise on him.]

[The bat thankfully dislodges itself and, disoriented, flutters off a short distance to recover. The golden wolves, however, are now taking turns, coming at him from three different angles. They leave short-lived trails of purple graffiti in their wake, then return to circling. They seem to be moving in predictable patterns, at least.

The remaining bat, now recovered, dives back down for another bite]

[And now Grovyle's focus is on dodging. Stopping long enough to use the second charge on that Croc Leisure, then continuing to evade in his remarkably small space. He doesn't focus on the wolves yet, instead erasing the bat as soon as it dives in his space... only to wheel around and drain the Masamune pin by punishing a wolf that decided to try to lunge from behind. Predictable, sure, but his reflexes also surpassed anything they could do short of a full-on run - that was the entire reason he focused on the bats first, they were more dangerous.

Now, it's just a matter of fighting defensively.]

[the wolves circle around the "cage", growling and slavering at the mouth. Then one howls, and the others howl along with it.

Then?

They all charge the box at once, from three different directions]

[Circling, howling, it gives his Masamune enough time to recharge. Naturally, he can't avoid three wolves at once, but he can certainly keep one from fleeing before it's erased.

The final charge on his Croc Leisure goes through, and he focuses. If he fails to erase the two remaining wolves in the next two passes, then he's done for, himself... he's certainly doing a good job of making it look like a close call - if Ichigo knew about the problems he was having with the pins he was getting, then he'd realize it was sincere instead of just helping him look good.]

[One of the wolves, more or less grabbed and held inside the box, snarls and kicks to try and get away. But Grovyle's Leaf Blades dig into its flesh and soon it dissolves into static before fading away completely. Just two left, now.

The wolves circle, getting into position to charge again. Ichigo sees that it's going to be bad... one little hint couldn't hurt, right?]

The box is tall enough for you to jump! [he calls down.

And not a moment too soon, as the two wolves charge once again, at the same time]

[And what does Grovyle do? He doesn't jump. No, he holds his ground and lashes out right as the wolves charge again. He grits his teeth through the pain, whipping that Masamune through the wolf's form, erasing it.

One left.]

Awfully polite for a predator, aren't you?

[The next time that wolf dodges, he does in fact jump, coming down with the familiar pinwheel flurry of Leaf Blades.]

Giving a little hint won't kill me. [he hopes, anyway.

Now one wolf is all alone, and it seems more timid, now, without it's "pack". But it charges anyway, with the same fervor as before... though it seems to hesitate. And it's hesitation is its downfall.

Ichigo is impressed. Grovyle is pretty beat up, though, and it ate through about 10 minutes of time. Hopefully the higher ups would say it was enough]

Objective met. Wall clear. [the walls around Grovyle vanish. Ichigo tosses a pin down to him] This is a ranged attack pin. Maybe you can use this one.

[Grovyle catches the pin, huffing from his injuries - sure, any cuts and scrapes easily mended themselves due to the odd nature of the UG, but it still stung.]

The predator who gives mercy to his prey is the hunter who goes hungry. Not that I'm not thankful.

[That's all he says, but after that he hurries off - both to get some space before Ichigo goes after him again, and to catch up with Rhyme.]

I'm ok with going hungry. I'll do what I have to not to starve. But hunger? Used to it.

[in more ways than one. Ichigo watches Grovyle leave, and doesn't give chase. The Game is a test, not an execution.

Once the pokémon is gone, Ichigo frowns and mutters to the sky]
