WEEK 2 DAY 7: MISSION

Wall Instructions: None. All reapers are to be on harrier duty. The ban on attacking players directly is still in place.

[There seems to be a new reaper stalking through the streets of Cluj-Napoca, a familiar sight to a few eavesdroppers in town. The teenager looks no older than fourteen years old, his head covered in bandages. He doesn't seem to be getting winded as he parkours across the rooftops, slipping the streets and alleys of town when he can't, showing a swiftness fitting that wiry frame. Oddly, he doesn't seem to be attacking Players, despite the command that all reapers should harry...

Looks like the GM is cocky once again - there is no direct warning of erasure at the end of this Mission mail. In addition, reapers are still instructed to not attack players directly. You could probably clear the day without completing the mission, as long as you survived... but completing the mission would certainly get you significant recognition at the end of the Game.]

[[OOC note: At its basic, this is a repeat of last week's Day 7: Survive to win. You can also try to take down the GM, or fulfill the secondary mission conditions. Anyone who completes the second 'task' stated will get a Blue Blood Burns Blue in addition to the posted mission reward.]]

[Dynamism. Leave a weakness, and expect the enemy to attack it, but never stop moving.]

For me, you mean. I'm the type who doesn't push himself to the limit for a win. I suppose that means I'll lose.

[After all, that's what the seventh day is.]

Someone from Shibuya being high-ranking in the Shinjuku Game?

[Mm... he can't say the name is familiar at all. Suspicious, but...]

I'm not sure how that equates to a win for me. Though I have to admit, your tactics have been a bit baffling. Not allowing the Reapers to attack directly? Not attacking directly yourself?

Did I say she was from Shibuya? For all I know she went there to get some ice cream once. It's like five minutes by train.

Besides. Rank is just a measure of power. If it wasn't, you and your golden boy Neku would have no chance of getting anywhere.

[Another shrug.]

Call it a test of faith. The higher-ups aren't kicking down death sentences on the final day yet, so why not enjoy it? I don't intend to be Erased today, and it's not like this week was exactly a fair Game. Only a grandmaster could pull out a win without any pawns.

I could only assume, based on what you told me. But if I'm incorrect, by all means, feel free to explain what you meant in saying she was "like that".

[... and it sounds like Rei is in on their little plan. Hm. No comment to that one.]

So, you're taking it easy while the rules are lax. Not exactly something I would expect from a GM.

As for Motou-san, I just meant that she was like you. She took first turn.

And I prefer to think of it as "testing the atmosphere". You take risks when you aren't in danger, see what you can and can't get away with.

Not a bad strategy, really. One I think everyone can get behind at one point or another.

So your pupils seem to have let you in on my name, but I don't seem to know yours. You obviously know your way around a Game - Shibuya's would be the obvious guess.

[Rei leans forward a bit, though he keeps his eyes on the door. After all, here, he's arguably "trapped". For all he knows, the new reapers and players are working together. Neku and Zecora certainly seemed chummy enough.]

[Joshua notes that glance. Honestly, he's surprised that no one has come along and interrupted their little conversation just yet.]

Kiryu Yoshiya, but I prefer to go by Joshua.

So you should already be able to see the differences.

[The ones he can't - his only information was second-hand at best before. While Neku and Ichigo put him on edge, Joshua here could be a useful source of information.]

Of course. There are some similarities, but mostly mundane things.

[He waves one hand idly, glancing to the door himself.]

Mostly passing the time. Something that's mutually beneficial, it seems. I'd honestly be more interested in what Shinjuku's Game was like before the Composer saw fit to make it a pale imitation of little brother Shibuya's.

[As casually as possible, he takes a sip of his drink.]

Though I'd hardly call the world-hopping 'mundane'.

Admittedly, I'm interested in that myself. That and the reason for copying Shibuya's Game in the first place. They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but this seems like a poor impersonation.

World-hopping is definitely not one of the similarities, that's for sure.

Perhaps whoever brought the Game over didn't intend to imitate but instead cannibalize. Maybe there's a different reason than flattery.

A damn shame, that. Knocks out one of the easiest scapegoats. I have to admit, it certainly makes things more interesting when the board keeps changing, though.

[Hm.] That could be... I heard that you mentioned remnants of Shibuya being considered dangerous. Is that right? If so, that could also be part of it. Of course, that makes the world-hopping seem a little out of sorts...

... but, I suppose you can't complain about a free vacation.

'zit really a vacation when you're still on the job?

[That gets a skeptical glance out of Rei - obviously he's been part of his own Game long enough to know that it's not supposed to be a constant thing.]

It's a change of scenery, at least. That in itself can be refreshing if you've been in the same place for a while.

I suppose.

[Once again Rei glances to the door, starting to get a little irritated.]

Feh... so much for these players being worth the effort. You newbloods have been coddling them too much.

Lumping me in with the rest of them? That's not quite fair.

[He rests his chin in his hand, following Rei's glance at the door.]

You're being a little impatient. Give them time.

[It's about now that The Flutters notice Joshua.]

Hey, Josh! We didn't see you there! Who's the dude?

[Yes, 'Cruel's yelling from her seat.]

[Flut's interruption only gives Rei the grounding he needs to properly work against his own impatience. Thankfully, a week with Pinkie Pie and Zecora being seen around town means Cruel doesn't get any more stares than anyone else who would shout for attention from several booths over.]

You don't strike me as any different, just more powerful.

[The bandaged reaper gives a bit of a chuckle and finishes his espresso.]

This one another pupil? I saw you two hanging around earlier. Looked like you were teaching her the ropes.

More powerful? I'm only as powerful as the rest of them.

[A shrug. He's had things watered down considerably, that's for sure. Though he's a little curious as to where Rei is getting that...

He glances back at 'Cruel, lifting a hand in a half-wave.]

She professed to be better than me. I simply challenged her to prove it.

[And, to 'Cruel:]

I would ask if you haven't been paying attention, but I think the answer is fairly obvious.

[Fluttercruel gulps down the last of her coffee and flutters over to the two.]

I was talking to 'Shy about stuff. What have you two been talking about? You going to propose?

[That gets the kid to roll his eyes.]

Even if we weren't both guys, I'm probably half your age, pony.

[With that, he shakes his head and regards Joshua once more.]

Power ain't just strength, and I can tell you know that. You also have an eye for talent.

[And finally he turns back to 'Cruel, eyeing her in consideration.]

You've definitely got potential, but you're so green I mistook you for a shrub at first. Get a few months of the Game under your belt and I'd say you'd have the experience to back up those cocky words.

[Joshua just chuckles at the sniping back and forth, tapping his fingers on the tabletop.]

Well, well. Aren't you perceptive.

[He glances back at 'Cruel, smirking behind his fingers.]
