WEEK 5, DAY 1: MISSION

Mission: Get with the Times.
Time Limit: Short
Noise Plane: Solo
Wall Instructions: Key walls around the Times Square. Keywalls must be cleared by presence of a pact, or by fighting noise.
Wall Rewards: Blown Kiss
Reaped Rewards: Frantic
Mission Rewards: Rare Metal

[It looks like things are back to normal, but that seems to only raise as many questions as it solves. What happened to Tatsumi Port? Why did the phones all go dead like that? And why did nobody see the GM the entire last week...?

But it's no matter. It's the start of another week of the Reaper's Game - and the mission seems the same as ever for Day 1. Now just to figure out where the mission is pointing to.]

(Well...after enduring the madness that encompassed the previous week, this one felt much more welcome. Aside from surviving doomsday, she made it through her week as a Player. She made it through without her sight and, to her surprise, benefited from it. Being able to see again...able to see the people, the world, the sky...the sunrise...it all felt so surreal to her.

Her reaper wings fluttered on their own accord as her cloak was wrapped around her, adorned with the pins that kept her alive during her previous week. She held her bow with her free hand as she casually and, almost cautiously, flew over the city streets. As vigilant as this may make her look, she was half doing her job and half enjoying the gift of vision.
)
emotionaldeath: (hiding makes it easier to hear the truth)

[personal profile] emotionaldeath 2013-03-26 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ryoji hears the sound of wings from somewhere above him and tilts his head up, watching Kreutzer as she flies past. He doesn't make an effort to stop her, though. It's not that he's too guilty to strike up a conversation, or worried about bothering her when she looked busy... he just doesn't see the point in saying anything.]
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-surprise)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-26 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
(At first, she simply flies past the boy, but not a second later does she stop and do a double take. That was...but...

...

...She decides not to question it. Instead, she touches down and approaches the boy.
)

...Ryoji...you made it...
emotionaldeath: (but it was so long ago)

[personal profile] emotionaldeath 2013-03-26 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods slightly, speaking quietly.]

I did. I guess I was pulled out of that world with the rest of you after all. I'm not sure if it happened before the Fall or not, though.

You seem to have made it out as well. Did I hurt you?
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-pensive)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-26 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
No more than I've hurt myself.

(She tugs on her cloak.)

Either way, the Game made sure to bring along everyone who's a part of it...I just didn't expect it could overrule doomsday.

...How are you feeling?
emotionaldeath: (is she still there?)

[personal profile] emotionaldeath 2013-03-27 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't believe it could do that either. Either way, what matters is that everyone got out safely.

...I'm alright. I feel a bit strange, but I'm guessing that's because I'm a Player.

[They took something from him as an entry fee, right? He's just too numb to figure out what. Give him a minute, he'll figure it out.]
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-open arms)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-27 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
...That depends on the kind of strange you're feeling.

(It could be some entry fee, but it could also be recovering from...well, from Nyx.)

Entry fees always feel as though you're missing something and oftentimes, you're forbidden from remembering it. Is that what you're feeling?
emotionaldeath: (watches but does not see)

[personal profile] emotionaldeath 2013-03-27 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I think that's it. I was wondering why I felt so numb. I think they've taken away my emotions.

[Though that would also support Kreutzer's other theory, considering how apathetic Nyx had been.]

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-27 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
(So it can go either way, really. It may as well be both...damn. Oh well; best she can do is make sure he keeps on going.)

That can make this week more or less difficult for you, depending on how you look at it.

...Perhaps they'll be returned to you by next week.
emotionaldeath: (I think the moon made me sad once...)

[personal profile] emotionaldeath 2013-03-27 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I can understand that. It makes what happened last week much easier to handle, but... it feels strange, knowing I am friends with people but not feeling anything when I'm around them.

I hope they will be.
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-cast stance)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-28 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's times like these when you have to appreciate what you have instead of dreading over what you don't have. As uncomfortable and confusing as being robbed of something so essential truly is, slowly you learn to move on without them.

They may take away your legs, but they can't take away the will to walk on.
emotionaldeath: (but there's nothing in it)

[personal profile] emotionaldeath 2013-03-29 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's very true. They took your eyesight last week, right? And you seemed to work through it very well. I'm sure a week without emotions won't be a problem.

[And to prove it, he smiles! ...Shame it doesn't seem to have the proper look to it. Ryoji's smile was usually so much more enthusiastic than this.]
suicidoll: (kreutzer-tea)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-29 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
(That's a forced smile if she ever saw one. At the very least, it is a smile.)

...I survived thanks to my own efforts and the efforts of others. I wouldn't be standing here if I didn't have both.

Speaking of which, have you found yourself a partner?

[Kreutzer might be doing her job halfway, but this Player is devoting his full attention to the task at hand...

...and he's spotted a Reaper flying along up there. The Professor's not quite sure what he wants to do here, so he'll try to avoid notice as much as possible while keeping an eye on her. He has the stealth skills of a college professor in his late middle age, so...yeah, he probably sticks out like a sore thumb somehow.]
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-stand)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-27 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
(A middle-aged college professor in the middle of Manhattan, no less. Kind of out of your element here, eh Professor?

Unfortunately, this makes you a rather easy target for Kreutz. Fortunately, she's not quite jumping at the opportunity to score some points. Even as she approaches, it's not with the look of a predator; just of a girl looking for conversation.
)

...Are you looking for something in particular?
invisiblefloatinghead: (Default)

[personal profile] invisiblefloatinghead 2013-03-27 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
[The last time he was in Manhattan, he was riding shotgun inside the head of a teenage boy. If he remembered that and you wanted to talk about being out of one's element...]

Not really, no. Just keeping an eye out for trouble, that's all.

[Hey, at least he's honest.]
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-open arms)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-27 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
(Gotta give him points for that.)

Unfortunately, trouble has predatory senses. It can strike when you least expect it.

(She doesn't mean that to be menacing; it's more out of warning.)

invisiblefloatinghead: (Hmmmm)

[personal profile] invisiblefloatinghead 2013-03-27 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm well aware of that. I've seen more than my share of trouble in my time.

[Yeah, he looks like such a troublemaker. Like the worst he's gotten into is losing a library book or something.]
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-flight)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-28 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
It seems as though everyone who's a part of the Game has dealt with more than their share.

(Yeah, Kreutz can't judge him for that. After all, she looks like she belongs in high school...I mean come on, she's wearing a hair bow. Who wears hair bows anymore?)

Unfortunately, it doesn't get any easier as you progress. Typical. All that can be done is dusting yourself off from the previous and brace yourself for what may come next.
invisiblefloatinghead: (Scientifical Glasses Adjustment)

[personal profile] invisiblefloatinghead 2013-03-28 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Good news! Women's fashion is one of those things the Professor is incredibly unobservant of, so he has no idea hair bows are out of style.

And hey, he was half of a high school aged superhero. He's not judging anyone by their age, that's for sure.]

It's no different than things were when I was alive.

[...even that whole "and then the world almost ended" thing that they had going last week wasn't different. That happened with depressing regularity back home.]

Getting a chance to go back is worth fighting for.
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-pensive)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-03-29 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
(Yeah, it wasn't quite as regular for Kreutz, but it's kinda something she dealt with before. It's a long story.)

Going back isn't quite as easy as they made it out to be. It's why people from a month ago, people from when the game started, are still here. There's quite the mystery surrounding that; everyone's coming up with their own theories, but tragically, there's nothing sturdy to stand on.
invisiblefloatinghead: (Hmmmm)

[personal profile] invisiblefloatinghead 2013-03-29 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's actually a very slight smile. Why, yes, this sure does sound like a job for a superhero. If he can do some good here, then dying was worth it.]

Perhaps it's for the best that I'm here, then. Gives me a chance to see if I can't get to the bottom of this affair.

[Not that he knows how he's going to do that. But he will try.]
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-surprise)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-04-09 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
(A superhero is very much needed here, yes.)

Rest assured that you won't be the only one. Even several of the reapers are looking into the matter and frankly, we need all the help we can get.

...Unfortunately, we have to play their game all the while, lest anyone wishes to face consequences.
invisiblefloatinghead: (Default)

[personal profile] invisiblefloatinghead 2013-04-10 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a grimace.]

What sort of consequences?
suicidoll: (Kreutzer-sad)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2013-04-11 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
If Reapers don't do their job, they face demotion, sometimes all the way down to a Player, or even erasure. If Players don't complete the assigned missions, then they all get erased.

We aren't just fighting for the chance to come back to life or to discover the truth of this Game; we're fighting for our very existences.
